Workshop #1
The Science of Opportunity
Join Chart Research as we discuss the science of trading. This workshop will cover a wide variety of topics each focused on systematically evaluating the markets.
Topics include:
- Outcome Risk: This evaluation tool relates to the probability associated with an investment not reaching its expected profit target or growth potential target within a defined period of time.
- Underwater Equity: Measuring performance from a risk perspective is the goal of the underwater equity curve. Specifically it focuses on the magnitude and duration of downside risk from peak levels.
- Correlation Studies: The key to diversification is proper asset allocation. The best way to determine if asset classes offer similar or different return characteristics is to calculate their historical correlation based on monthly returns.
- Strength of Trend (SoT) : This measure serves as an excellent barometer of the composite market movement within a specific portfolio and therefore allows investors to gauge when to expect more significant or less significant returns.
- Additionally this workshop will provide historical perspective on the stock market as we review the good, the bad, and the ugly associated with the stock market.
Presentation Time: Approximately 1 Hour.

Workshop #2
Managed Futures: A Guided Tour
Join Chart Research as we discuss the opportunities managed futures products offer traditional stock and bond portfolios.
Workshop Topic:
Few investors understand how to construct a truly diversified portfolio. While most investors know that they should be diversified, few take the time to properly allocate their assets in order to achieve true diversification. The conventional market wisdom in the late 1990’s misled many investors by leading them to believe that they could achieve true diversification by simply including Large Cap stocks, Small Cap stocks, and International stocks within a single portfolio. In addition, many “investment experts” on the talk shows have led the investment public to believe that their investment choices were limited to stocks, bonds, and cash. Unfortunately, far too few investors have been able to navigate through the financial storm that has unfolded over the past several years. One thing is certain, investors now have an opportunity to learn some valuable lessons from mistakes made during this volatile investment period.
David Stendahl will explain in detail the advantages offered by Managed Futures and specifically how they can be used to construct a well balanced portfolio. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to dramatically improve a traditional stock and bond investment portfolio by using alternative investment products like Managed Futures.
Presentation Time: Approximately 1 Hour.

Workshop #3
Demystifying the Futures Markets
Workshop Topic:
Why is there a common misconception that the majority of people who trade commodity futures lose money? Studies show that a majority of amateurs who trade futures on their own do lose. However, there is a logical reason for the amateur's losses. If a non-professional attempted to practice medicine or law, he or she would probably perform quite poorly, similar to many non-professional futures traders.
This workshops will attempt to dispel the myths associated with trading futures by covering the following topics:
- Futures trading 101.
- Leverage pro's and con's.
- Systematic trading.
- CPOs and CTAs.
- Asset class rotation.
This workshop is perfect for those interested in learning basics of the futures markets taught by David Stendahl.
Presentation Time: Approximately 1 Hour.
